Accomplishments

  1. Adopted paramedic services
  2. Adopted the Firefighter Auxiliary Program
  3. Dedicated more funding toward equipment and training for the Fire Dept. and Police Dept.
  4. Created an Emergency Operation Center (EOC) at the City Hall and adopted updated emergency plans
  5. All State Financial Audits are Completed
  6. Adopted the Hillside Management Zone
  7. Balanced budget without program cuts and 3 million in reserves
  8. Adopted Strategic Planning
  9. Created the first City Park since the 1970s
  10. Completed the Mira Monte Reservoir Project

  15. Reduced Permit Fees for the Installation of Solar Panels and streamlined the process to make easier
  16. Adopted City Ordinance to Restrict the City’s Eminent Domain Power

  18. Saved the two MTA bus lines from being taken out of the City and our funding for the roundabout service

  20. Served on the PUSD Management Audit Committee representing the city
  21. Recruited and hired the current City Manager and Finance Director
  22. Lobbied the State for funds: I’ve made 5 or 6 trips to Sacramento in the last 4 years
  23. Lobbied the County for funds: $350,000 for Sierra Madre Room, $18,500 for Goldberg Park, and $57,750 for Bailey Canyon Park.
  24. Lobbied the Feds: I’ve made 3 trips back to Washington DC in the past 4 years
    • Funds for Water Infrastructure Improvements – lobbied for city and regional projects. Many of the water projects that have been completed in Sierra Madre in the past several years would not have been possible without federal funds…2.8 million.
    • Funds for the fire to pay for the cost of the 2008 fire and mudslides…3.8 million.
    • Funds for the City’s First Emergency Operations Center (EOC)…$300,000.
    • Funds for City Streets – Stimulus $500,000
    • Funds for Energy Efficiency
    • $64,575 for Goldberg Park
